I grew up in Chicago, a city built on steel and sweat. I spent my twenties on my knees in hundred-year-old brownstones, breathing in dust that was older than my grandfather. It was there I learned that a floor isn't just a surface - it's the foundation of a home's character.
Most installers see vinyl as a "shortcut." I see it as an engineering challenge. Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) is the most resilient, high-performance material in modern construction, but it only lives up to its name when it's installed with surgical precision.
When I moved to Tampa, I saw a market flooded with "fast" work. Beautiful homes were being fitted with premium vinyl that squeaked after six months because the subfloor wasn't leveled. Seams were separating because humidity wasn't accounted for.
